Full Moon Farewell...

Welcome to the online home of the Full Moon Prophets...

FMP was a four-piece blues-R&B-rock-jam group from western Montana. We played fun originals, as well as modern adaptations of classic tunes. We played music we love- from CSNY to Bob Dylan to Sheryl Crow, with an original blues-funk twist. The group has disbanded as of November 2009.

Our farewell party at the Top Hat in Missoula was everything
we wanted it to be! We had a great time playing for a bit over an hour. Unfortunately Rob couldn't be there so Mark Sourhada sat in on drums. After that several old and new musical friends stepped up and we all jammed together on a bunch of tunes. Thanks to Louie Bond, Andre Floyd, Ellie Nuno, Mickey, Ed, Mike, Jay, Ron, Jim, Denny, Patty, and the others. It was a really fun time... sad for sure, but we were all up there sharing music with great players, and it felt really good. It was hard to wrap things up, as it was our last time playing a gig together... but now it's on to other musical adventures. Thanks again to all of you for supporting us. We'll miss you.

Heading up to Richard Kling's memorial service today in Bigfork. Richard was, as stated above, a terrific person and a good friend. He was also a big FMP fan and always gave us love and encouragement whenever he was at our shows... which was often! It always brought a collective smile to the band when he would appear in the audience. Richard will be sincerely missed. We wish peace to his family and friends in the days ahead.

What a blast! The Halloween Bash at Ricciardi's was a gas. A great crowd of ghouls, goblins, mythical creatures, and beautiful people. It was really fun to have had Paul Philips sitting in on sax. We were missing Danny Waugh's horn and vocals, but Paul did a great job with both sax and harmonica. We played to a packed house and everyone had a fun time. Thanks to Chris and Troy for having us, and to the great staff at Ricciardi's for making it a smooth event. Next up is Nov. 14 at the Union, our last regular gig, and then the 15th at the Top Hat for our Full Moon Farewell Party at 8:00. We have a confirmation that Andre Floyd will be joining us, and we are hopeful that Steve Kelly (aka Big Daddy) and a few other Flathead area friends will join us onstage that night, in addition to some Missoula area musician/friends like Louie Bond, Ritchie Reinholt, and Vic Stampley. It is shaping up to be a great event, and we hope you will join us for this last public performance. Keep on rocking... -D.

(sorry for the monster sized blog!)
Greetings everyone, thanks for checking in. We had a great weekend! Although it was pretty damn cold, we managed to stay warm and rocked the nights away to great crowds in Mssoula and up in Woods Bay. Thanks to all who came out. Next up is a special Halloween Party at Ricciardi's Bar & Grill on Saturday night (the 31st, of course!) at 9 pm. For this show we will have a special guest, Paul Phillips, from Missoula joining us onstage. Paul is a veteran sax player who plays frequently with the Top Hat's "M-Group". He will be sitting in for FMP's Dan Waugh, who will be out of state on the 31st. Come dressed up and ready to have a blast. It will be the best Halloween party anywhere around!

Well, the big news from FMP right now is that our FAREWELL BASH is being planned as we speak. This will be a night to remember, as it will be our last show together for the public (we also have a wedding on New Year's Eve, our actual last gig, but that will be a private event).  We have secured the Top Hat in Missoula on Sunday November 15, starting at 8 pm. At this last public performance we will be playing a set of our favorite songs first, then opening up the stage for some invited guest musicians from across western Montana. The list of guest players is still being confirmed, but we will be posting them on this blog once we know who is planning on coming. It should be a very fun night of great music and memories. Although "breakin up is hard to do", this night will be our chance to share our love for playing music, and to thank our friends, fans and musical mentors for all the support and encouragement they have given us over the years. Please consider joining us for this last show. It is sure to be a hoot!

On another, related note... A few folks have asked us for info about why FMP is ending its run. The answer is simple. One of us has made the decision to stop gigging in order to spend more time with family, and another band member is relocating to western Washington. It is mostly these two circumstances that have resulted in the need to wrap things up for us, not anything else. We have grown close during our time playing together, and will always continue to have a lot of mutual respect for each other. We will all continue to play music in one way or another, whether it's working in new groups or sitting in as a guest from time to time. As all musicians know... you gotta keep playing. We will. Keep your ears peeled. Thanks again to everyone that supported FMP, from Hazel and Marcia to Randy and Diane and everyone in between. We love you all.

Welcome back, friends and fans of FMP. Well, here goes... this is hard to write... It looks as if the Full Moon Prophets are wrapping things up for good very soon. Due to a series of circumstances, we will be finishing up our run together as a band this fall / winter. It has been a great ride, and we would like to thank all our families, friends, and fans for all the support you have shown us these three years. Although it is hard to imagine, we are moving on in other directions and our time playing together is coming to a close. We will be playing this weekend at the Union Club in Missoula (Fri. Oct. 9th), then at the Sitting Duck in Woods Bay (Sat. 10th).  We will be playing at the Point Spread Lounge (Ricciardi's) Halloween Party on Oct. 31st, with a special guest. So please consider coming out and shaking a leg with us as we finish out our time together, and once again, thanks to all those who believed in us and supported us during our time together.

Hello all you friends and fans of FMP. We had a great weekend playing at The Roadhouse in Ferndale (Friday night), and then at the Top Hat in Missoula on Saturday. The people in Ferndale are the bee's knees. We love that place... the folks are REAL and they love to have fun. We hope to be back there again soon. Being able to play at the Hat was awesome, as the place has such an amazing history. To be on the same stage that so many legends have performed on was truly a treat for us. Doug sang "Magnolia", a J.J. Cale song, in homage to J.J., whom he saw on that stage in the late 80's. Hopefully we can return to the Hat soon and do it again. Next up in our busy September is Bigfork's Los Caporales... new for us... on the 11th, and don't forget Dayton Daze on Saturday afternoon the 12th. We'll be outdoors at the idle Spur in Dayton, starting around 3 pm. Hope you can come see us... we'd love to see you!

Hi friends! We are BACK and ready to play again. Doug is safely home from a monthlong trip in China and has a thousand stories. Here he is at the Great Wall, checking ou the scenery. We played at Ricciardi's and then the Union Club this past weekend... it sure felt great to be back together making music once again. We have a busy schedule in September!

Teri just had her CD Release Party, to celebrate her new solo recording, "Down On the Street". It's a beautifully produced compilation of 5 new original songs. Contact Teri if you are interested in a copy. We are happy to be returning to the Rocky Mountain Roadhouse near Bigfork on Sept. 4th (Happy Birthday Karen!) and we are very excited to be playing on Sat. Sept. 5th at the Top Hat in Missoula. Hope you can come join us at these fine venues, and we also hope you are enjoying this beautiful summer!

Hi everyone, thanks for checking in. Hope you all are staying cool and having some summer fun. We had such a great gig at the Sitting Duck in Woods Bay on June 20th! What a great crowd! The energy was really awesome. Can't wait to come back later this summer.

Well... FMP is getting ready for a long hiatus. The guitar player is traveling to Asia this summer (China, to be specific) on a study trip and we will not be performing as a group for about five weeks. The rest of the band has some projects in the works... Teri, Rob, and Dan will be making music in other various settings while Doug is messing around in China. All of us are a little sad to not be playing together during this time, but rest assured that we'll be back performing right away when we re-unite at the Sitting Duck on August 15th. Our last gig before Doug leaves is July 10th at Ricciardi's Point Spread Lounge in Polson. Please come out and join us having some fun at our last gig before our break! We've been performing solid for almost three years now, and this will be our longest stint apart since the band was formed in 2006! Some of us may need Full Moon Therapy after the first few weeks. Anyway, thanks again for your support and we hope to see you on July 10th in Polson!

Hi friends and fans... We just played our first gig at the Sitting Duck in Woods Bay. Had a great time, met some new friends. Quite a lively bachelorette party. Lots of gals dressed up and wielding giant blow-up body parts. Hmm... A beautiful evening under the stars outside on the Duck's enormous deck overlooking Flathead Lake. Thanks to Karen for booking us... looking forward to many nights there in the future.

Coming up is June 13th at the Union Club, then Out to Lunch at Missoula's Caras Park, under the big tent on June 17th. Doug's mom- who will be visiting from back east- will be in attendance, to keep him in line. Should be an improvement on last year's Out to Lunch gig... that was the day it snowed in June... remember that? Not a very big crowd, but we had fun anyway. Thanks for stopping by, and hope to see you soon!

Greetings friends... Nice of you to stop by! We are doing fine and have had some truly great gigs lately. Full house at the Union Club in Missoula last weekend, with some outstanding musician friends adding to the fun. Our good friend Vic Stampley joined us onstage with his harps of magic for a few tunes. Also, a former Missoula musician (another harp player) named "Seth" - not sure of his last name -  also played a few songs. These guys were really fun to hear. Quite a few other great players around the Union that night also. Next up is a return to the Great Northern in Whitefish this Friday and Saturday night, May 1 - 2. We'd love to have some of our friends show up; it always makes it more fun when you are there. Thanks again for checking in. Keep on rockin'!
